I really think you should wait it out otherwise speak to your doctor. Now, 4 months later, I still cannot sing, shout or talk very long but it seems to get better everyday. My doctor said there's nothing they can do but to wait for your body to heal itself and surely it did. After 2 months i could carry a normal tone for conversation. My surgeon wasnt sure if I'd ever get my full voice back but thankfully I have, although at times it does go very weak. they repaired it but I was still exactly the same as you are describing. My vocal chord nerve was cut during my Op. Should I expect to get my voice back? I will return to my dr next week for a visit. My dr said that a nerve was plucked as the gland was very large. So I just keep it short and talk with my hands. I actually get out of breath if I try to conversate in whisper.
I have no range in my voice and even when I try to communicate with my teenagers( which is very hard to do with no voice), I get out of breath. I am still a little dizzy and nauseated probably due to the replacement meds. Hello everyone, I am 5 days post op total thyroidectomy.
